Q: Items on Special Order
I have been looking for a certain corkscrew, but I don't see it on your site - can you source it for me?
A:
We have built up an international network of dealers and collectors, from whom we can source special and rare pieces. You can add pieces to the "Wishlist" feature on your login profile for this site, and we will contact you when one becomes available, or you can contact us re: more urgent needs specifying exact details and purchase price range.
Q: What is your Return policy?
What if it is not as described or the picture doesn't highlight a problem with the item - what is your policy?
A:
Our policy is very simple. We believe that happy customers are longterm customers. While we endeavor to make every description accurate and every picture tell a story, we are not perfect. If there is any problem whatsoever, we will be happy for you to return it for a full refund.
Q: Starting a Corkscrew Collection
What is the best way to get started with a corkscrew collection?
A:
Most collectors start off with an impulse buy, which leads to further interest, sometimes to a passion, and eventually to an addiction! I would advise that you buy a book to help get you acquainted with some basic information. Ideally try to get an idea of prices before you dive in, and remember that price guides are just that - a guide. Very often they are out of date as trends push some prices up and others down. Tthe next big decision is what should you collect? While I am certain that your tastes will change as you buy more and see more corkscrews, you cannot go wrong by buying pieces that you like. If you are already rummaging through flea markets, garage sales and antique fairs, then you are in the right place. If you are not able to get to any of these events or even if you are, eBay is a great place to find corkscrews. Lastly, don't forget the specialist dealers who can guide you along with your collection and find that special piece.
Q: Are there any Corkscrew Clubs?
Are there any clubs, groups or associations for corkscrew collectors?
A:
There are several clubs for collectors. The largest is the Canadian Corkscrew Collectors Club, which despite its name is an international club. click here. There are several smaller, regional clubs in the USA, and there are also national clubs in the UK, France, Germany, and Scandanavia.
Q: How should I display my Corkscrew Collection?
How should I display my Corkscrew Collection?
A:
Collectors have used different methods to display their collection. You can buy glass-topped display boxes similar to those used by dealers at antique markets. They are good for presenting the pieces, and they store neatly. There are some very nice perspex holders designed for corkscrews, which allow you to present the corkscrews vertically on a shelf or in a cabinet. I have seen some people use thin-drawered architects' cabinets - again perfect for storing corkscrews. If you have a whole wall to devote to your collection, some collectors mount them on boards. Be creative!
